I am still learning all about atmega168 and reading its manual can be a bit daunting. My question is can you user the uart for a serial connection to the computer at the same time with lcd and have spi with say multiples other atmega168? From the manual it looks like all three of these communication options have their own separate pins on the chip.

Thanks!

I was thinking if I wanted to communicate to multiple objects using serial or some other form. What would be the best way to do it? Is this something that would require a bigger chip with more serial ports on it.

Hi oxey,

It is definitely possible to have the UART module handle communications with the PC and then use something like the SPI module to communicate between chips.
