Everything Else » PARTS & MORE--

All-

I've thought long and hard about this, as I don't want to get bounced off this site. But I'm very frustrated. I don't want to lose connection with everyone, as has occurred previously with the NK site. So...

As the NerdKits store is non-functioning and I've gotten zero response from Mike or Humberto about taking over this site & store, I'm creating a new space in the spirit of the community here. I hate to see beginners turned away because their orders aren't being fulfilled. I've also paid attention to what members want here, in terms of library and forum-- and I have even more coming, things no one else is doing to keep the community vibrant and exciting. My site will link back to the NK site so people can come here as well if they wish. I'm not departing, just trying to keep it from stagnating and dying.

I have a company that purchases components in huge quantities directly from the manufacturers (around the globe). If people want to provide their email addresses to me, I'll notify them when the storefront and forum is up. I believe in this community and am taking steps to ensure that it continues and prospers. I offer thousands of parts. And I have a lot of things coming that I think everyone will really like. Because I purchase huge quantities, I can sell items in small hobbiest quantities at extremely low prices-- in some cases, components you couldn't obtain on your own, because MOQ is like 10K or more.

And if you spend $50 or more, S&H is free anywhere in CONUS.

I will not distribute your email or contact information to anyone else or any 3rd party. I value privacy and hate SPAM. If you're interested, please go here and fill out the form.

For non-CONUS members who are interested, sign up anyway, and we'll figure out how to service your needs if we can, related to export/import and all that.

I don't think you'll be banned from this site for a little advertising but GSpotLogic? What a weird name to choose for an electronics business. It seems more appropriate for a porn store or dating service. Do a quick web search on "gspot" and you'll see why.

Noter--

Yes, and since it's one of the most searched for words in the world, it generates lots of traffic (and business, surprisingly) because of it. GSLI handles industrial, consumer, personal-use, medical, biometric, and military electronics fulfillment needs.

However, that is not the name the site or forum will go under, for the reasons you mentioned. That's just a means to get on the mailing list at the moment.

So this (big?) company, GSLI, that handles all the stuff you list has a web presence that is the site you linked to for a contact form and that's it? Can't find more info on them even if I look specifically. Sounds impressive but in reality seems to be non-existent. Probably you could sell a lot of vibrators with "gspot" in your business name but I'm not so sure it will be very effective for non-related types of inventory.

Doesn't matter though, all that matters is what you have on hand and the price. Look forward to checking out your online store. When do you expect to have it online?

Noter,

This company is an organization that develops electronics for other companies, that sell directly to their end customers. It designs and develops electronics sub-assemblies that are incorporated into other products. I assure you, most of the electronic items in your home contain assemblies from companies like mine that you've never heard of and won't find anything about.

There is a lot of additional overhead when stepping into a retail business model. I'm doing it as a courtesy, because I can, because I'm passionate about this community, and frankly I think with the right backing, a community like this can be amazing.

If anyone is opposed to me doing this for the NK community, say so. I'm not interested in pushing this if there is insufficient interest.

I'm aiming to have it online in early December. I appreciate any and all supportive thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. I'll be able to send out the link to the proper site for anyone who provides an email.

BM, I'm not against your business venture. I'm just giving some feedback, it's a weird name for an electronics business.

I also think it would be fine to post your link here when it's ready so that folks that don't sign up with you in advance can still peruse your store. Usually signup/registration is not really required until checkout time and I especially like sites that just use my paypal info at checkout and don't require me to create a new user account on their site.

Noter-

I know you're not. Didn't think you were. I just wanted everyone to know. If nobody wants this, then it's kind of pointless for me to do. I'm just not trying to be a square peg in a round hole.

I'll post a link here when it's up. The request for emails isn't a 'sign up', and I'm not asking for any private information in doing so. The main reasons for emails is:

o NerdKit members will get discounts not otherwise available
o If the NK site goes down, I can still reach interested parties
o It helps me gauge interest.

As for checkout, we support PayPal.

BM,

I think there's value in having a supplier you can trust and interact with on a forum like this; don't think that Mike and Humberto will notice or care about your posting.

All--

Our goal presently is to have the parts store up in December. Even then it won't have everything (just the realities of time constraints, since -- as this is my baby -- I'm having to do the majority of the work to make it happen, myself). Once it's up, you'll see more parts being added daily until.

Thanks guys, much appreciate your support!

No link to the new store? Did the dream die, BobaMosfet?

jlaskowski-

Not dead yet; will have an answer by end of month. I'd already emailed everyone who had signed up. We ran into a inventory/taxation issue. The online store requires us to maintain inventory which we normally don't have to do. Normally what we buy is sold already. As such, it creates a number of taxation, financial, and logistics issues that are long-lasting and costly to us. The Board is making the final decision, so I have to wait until they've made it, and will report back.

I hope the vote is in favor of your "store". We need someone selling stuff & is also involved with the AVR micro's..

Thanks for the update Jim
